Where do I begin, what do I have to tell you?
For starters I’ll always care for you, no matter what we’ve been through.
Having to take care of myself, you and my brother,
Because you couldn’t function without the love of your life.
Dad left and life went downhill for you,
You had personal issues and insecurities within you.
No parent is perfect I want everyone to know,
Parents need their kids for comforting and consoling.
I know you’re not as strong as you used to be,
Fighting all of your inner demons all of these years.
There’s years of bottled up emotions and feelings,
For grandma and grandpa that you never told them.
The drugs took you to a place in your own world,
Where you could escape the harsh realities of life.
You thought my dad was your savior and way out,
But the savior was within you and deep within your soul.
To all of the kids in the world, your parents always need you,
No matter how strong they may look and seem to be.
I longed for a hug from you, that’s the truth,
Maybe I should’ve been the one to initiate it first.
I was too busy being angry with you for being on drugs,
That I couldn’t empathize with you and try to understand you.
Your insecurities and beauty have deteriorated slowly,
But there is still beauty within the core of your soul.
