Ephesians 6:13-14a
Therefore put on the full armor of God...
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.
Dear Heavenly Father
I come to You, the Author of all truth, in a desperate search for answers. The world I live in is full of failed directions and dead-ends. You are the only source of truth: full, meaningful honesty. I long for Your answers in this turbulent, adversarial place I find myself in. Keep me on the narrow path of truth.
The broad road is much more popular, but You told me its end is destruction. Remind me of that fact whenever I veer off the course You set for me. I need to remain pure and unblemished to be most useful for Your work. Remind me of the urgency to wash this world off my feet. Hold me in the holy way for You.
Our culture says truth is different for everybody. Nobody has all the right answers. Everybody knows better than that deep down. The only reason they convince themselves of that is so they can do whatever pleases their selfish desires. Mine isn't a popularity contest, I live for an audience of One. Enable me for the great pleasure of You.
The vocal minority tells me the Bible is full of fables and fiction. I call it Your Word because I know You inspired the authors with the words You want me to hear. Your truth is open for everybody. Even if the majority of people never read Your Book for themselves I'll cherish every second I can spend with It. Starve me for an intense desire for You.
A hunger and thirst is my request. Fulfill these needs with the only source that truly satisfies. Your truths are what everybody longs for. Give me the means to share this message with those around me. I don't want to hoard the answers for myself while others flounder in emptiness. Enrich me with only honest words for everyone.
The Easter season is when I remember the ultimate sacrifice You made to secure my eternal security with You. Help me to never forget the message we all need. You love us so much You gave Your Son for everybody. That is the ultimate truth I must be willing to die for. Anoint me for my sacrificial service for You.
It's in the name of the One who agonized in the garden, yet fulfilled His mission for me, Jesus Christ, I come to You with my desires. AMEN
