Sean and Nicole discussed several options available to her over a few days. It was clear with each option that seeking asylum in the United Kingdom would be the first step. Sean wouldn’t have it any other way, and he felt this would help ensure her safety. After finally reaching agreement on their plan, Sean called his father to arrange a dinner date so that he and Nicole could share some information with him. Since Nicole wanted to expose the confession tape, they needed to secure a contact in the media. Sean evaded the press, so he had no connections to any reporters. Peter did have those connections and could engage the right person.
Peter suggested that Sean and Nicole arrive at his home at seven and his staff would prepare the dinner. Nicole was upstairs getting dressed, as Sean waited downstairs flipping through television channels when he happened onto a campaign speech given by Jenkins. Something had changed in his demeanor, and Jenkins didn’t seem as enthusiastic as he had been. Sean wondered if it was because of Nicole’s absence. The thunderstorm produced a bolt of lightning pulling Sean from his thoughts. The rain was pouring down, and Sean frowned realizing he and Nicole would be heading out into it shortly.
Nicole finished dressing for dinner, she walked down the stairs. Sean turned off the television and stood up to meet her in the foyer. Nicole was wearing the dress that she had worn on the campaign trail. It was one of her favorite dresses, and the violet color set her eyes dancing. She also had to admit to herself that she was wearing it because the last time she had done so, Sean couldn’t keep his eyes off her. As she descended the steps, Sean looked up to see her in the dress he had imagined slipping off her many times since that day in North Carolina. He smiled his approval with a devilish grin that confirmed his desire for Nicole. They arrived at Peter’s house promptly at seven as directed. Sean was a bit nervous about the evening. He wasn’t entirely sure why.
