Where did it go wrong? Where do I begin?
Maybe back to my childhood and do some reflection.
I grew up in a very dysfunctional home, that I’ll say,
A lot of things just didn’t go right and things were hard.
Granted I lived in a big house with a huge bedroom,
I had my own bathroom and a walk in closet.
You would think that having everything was good,
The sad reality is that’s not the case at all.
My father owned his own business in technology,
My mother was a doctor and had her own practice.
So yes we have a ton of money and I was spoiled rotten,
So were my other two sisters who had their own rooms too.
Going shopping with my dad’s credit card was always fun,
Getting manicures and pedicures every week was the norm for us.
Getting our hair done whenever we wanted, we had our own hairdresser,
She was on call for us whenever we needed her, life was good.
I lived around a bunch of rich people in a high class neighborhood,
It literally took 3 minutes to get from the driveway to my house.
Well that doesn’t excuse the fact that my parents fought a lot,
And that my parents had all out fist fights all over the house.
It wasn’t like my dad was just beating on my mom,
My mom didn’t take much from him and she surely as hell fought back.
Even bats were brought out of closets and swinging did happen.
Injuries surely did occur between my parents even us girls,
I have a few scars on my hands and wrists from breaking up fights with knives.
I’d spend my days lying in school about cutting myself while cooking,
And how I’m just a clumsy little teenage girl.
I’d get made fun of for that but I’ll take that any day,
Just so no one knows what went on inside of that mansion.
Domestic violence just became the norm for us girls,
And unfortunately that’s how we handled situations outside of home.
