The Tretakai are hunters and as such, are highly skilled with the bow. They are however, not renowned for their swordsmanship. Master Boryka is a LemMestari, a sword master. Knowing Kadin will need to be proficient with the sword if he is to fulfill his destiny, he instructs Kadin in the sword. In this scene, he puts Kadin through the final test, which he passes only to be put through an excruciating ordeal to receive the mark of the LemMestari.
