She hasn't yet realized that they are fated.

Nicola Angliatti, an 800 year old Italian vampire, is captured by human religious zealots, his body used for research to end all vampire kind. Evangeline, the daughter of the cult's leader, was kind to him, and he can't stand the thought that she might eventually come to hate him and his kind like her father does.

When Evangeline is seriously injured, Nic knows. It is the first real manifestation of their connection. But will Evangeline survive the wolf attack?
Evangeline and Nic have been separated for eighteen years. But they've never been far from each other's thoughts. Only a child when she was used, unwillingly, to bait Nic, she's harbored guilt for years over his supposed death, blaming her father for killing the handsome vampire who tried to help her. Nic has always thought of Evangeline when he was frightened or in pain. When she discovers him, beaten, starved for kindness and human contact, she knows she must do anything to save him. Even if that means risking her life for a man-a monster-she met when she was eight years old.

By the Fates, Fought is the second novel in the By the Fates trilogy. It contains several disturbing scenes, including brief descriptions of rape and torture and is meant for mature audiences. It ends on a cliffhanger. By the Fates, Fulfilled will be released in Fall of 2014
Faolan is one of my favorite characters and he didn't get much screen time in By the Fates, Freed. In By the Fates, Fought, He harbors much guilt over what happened to Ealasaid and he'll do anything to help her now.
