The opening scene
I wanted the reader to be drawn immediately into the heart of the story. Christa's jet descends out of the heavens and lands on what looks like a tropical paradise of an island, for about thirty seconds. She, and the reader, are thrust into a situation that will test the limits of their courage, their knowledge and, at the core, their faith in the future of humanity.
