Across The Pond by Michael Mccormick is the story of a young American who fights for his country during the war in Vietnam, only to be rejected by the very society and government that sent him to war in the first place. The author based the novella on his personal experience as an infantry squad leader who served in combat. Upon his return to the United States, he was awarded the Silver Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
