He was an honor student who faced some tough challenges going to a predominately white high school. His mother is a single-parent doing the best she can to raise him and his younger brother Lee to be respectable and hardworking young black men. With the help of his high school guidance-counselor, Milton received a four year scholarship to a college up in Fairbanks, Alaska, and this news gave his mother so much joy.
