When I set out to write this book, my first new adult romance novel, I knew I wanted the characters to be a little unconventional. Lucas has all the characteristics of a typical love interest - chiseled good looks, charm, and most importantly a burning love for Katie, the main character - but I had some fun writing in some flaws, too. Lucas has a tendency to get flustered when Katie's around. He has panic attacks. He's running away from his problems. He's not perfect, and I think that makes him even more appealing. Katie has flaws, big ones, but Lucas does, too. In the end, I think these flaws are what make them so perfect for each other.
