Troubled detective Gabriel McRay is fired for police brutality. His issues stem from the blocked memory of a childhood trauma. When a killer begins leaving notes on victim's bodies addressed to the detective, Gabriel is hired back to lure in the killer. With his career dependent on the whims of a psychopath, Gabriel soon realizes that the killer's identity hides within his own blocked memory. Teamed with his forensic pathologist girlfriend and a psychiatrist, Gabriel runs two parallel investigations. The first: a dark journey into the terrifying recollections of his past and the second: the hunt for a serial killer who seems to know more about Gabriel... than he knows himself.
The hardest job we have is the work we have to do on ourselves. When we begin to realize that our lives are heading in a more positive direction, it sometimes comes as a surprise.
Gabriel is certainly being messed with. He's now begun to think he's a murderer. If he thinks that is a possibility, his fellow officers are going to think so as well.
Many people ignore their issues. Gabriel is willing to admit he's messed up -- even though he knows it's going to cost him. In this case, he's risking losing the chance he has at a new relationship. Is he doing it on purpose? Maybe. Will Ming, the woman he's interested in, hang in there? Maybe.
