A scarlet dragonfly tattoo—meant to be a beautiful, family mark of freedom—instead seems to become a prophetic brand for those who wear it, to forever be suffering. Follow one mother and her daughters as they are bound by blood—but torn apart by abuse, leaving one of these women trapped, alone, to battle to survive in the terrifying darkness of captivity. Wounded and broken, twin sisters, Gabriella and Olivia, along with their younger sister, dive blindly—and much too early—into adulthood, running from a not-so-idyllic past; chasing the happiness they believe they will find by being grown-up and starting their own lives. Deeply evocative, Let Me Go is a coming-of-age story of the struggles of one mother and her three daughters trying to survive life—marred by abuse and misplaced blame—and their need to reach peace, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
The book starts out with the girl in the box. Who is she? This is the added suspense woven into the story which keeps the reader wondering... is it the mother? Or one of the twins, Gabby or Olivia? Or is it the little sister, Emma? While this is a small part of the overall book, it does give the reader something mysterious on the back burner while following the girls through their cycle of abuse. Of course, there is a happy ending for the girl in the box... or is there?
Thus the title... Let Me Go
