First thoughts

I remember practicing my writing skills my creating one or two chapters of a story that I had no intention of completing. This excerpt is based on one of those chapters that I published online. It did get good reviews, so I do hope that it makes a good fist chapter for this book. I would love to hear what you think.

Rise of the Silver Dragon - Book One

Science Fiction & Fantasy

This is Raymeria 2050. Mik Fausten leaves home and travels to the capital city of Seafar, one heart-pounding step at a time. His dreams of joining the kingdom's spy agency, MIDA, are getting closer and closer with every passing hour. At seventeen, he heads north with his cousin Jace to cultivate his new life, unaware that the People's Revolutionary Front are hunting him down to obtain the silver dragon amulet given to him by his late parents, believing that it could unlock the silver dragon Ungura from its slumber. After a short stay at the military academy, Mik is soon thrown into a world of myth and disbelief after the rebels launch an attack on the capital and is given the task to obtain a second amulet that the rebel army seek to use for their own destructive ambitions.

Coming of Age

This was original going to be the first chapter in a follow up book. However, not only did i then reject the idea of having multiple small books but I also wanted to give Jace his coming of age story. As you can see he is taking steps to find his big cousin Mik, and he does this by working hard at the academy and gaining his manhood through responsibility and determination.

Those first few lines

Out of the 14 chapters in this book, chapter one was the most edited. To be more specific, this entire excerpt saw it's fair share of changes. The first few lines at the start of your book are the most important, and to be honest I really do think I got it right this time.
