How Does A Nuclear Bomb Work?

I've always found nuclear weapons fascinating. They are marvels of technology where science and engineering come together in perfect synergy, creating the most destructive weapons man has ever known. If you've ever wanted to know how a nuclear weapons works, or why they are so hard to build, here is your chance, all described very simply in stages throughout the book. This excerpt is one of the more complete descriptions as to how it works. The physics of The Silla Project is based on actual Los Alamos technical reports written during and just after the Manhattan Project by the men and women who built the bombs that ended World War II. This is exactly the approach the North Koreans would take and are in fact taking to become a nuclear power. And that would be a bad thing.

The Meaning of "Control"

North Korea is a police state totally under the control of a brutal dictator, a sprawling military machine, and a devious secret police force. We in the West often wonder how it is possible for a people to remain so controlled for decades while the rest of the world progresses around them. The answer is actually fairly simple: control everything they see or hear. This excerpt illustrates just how deeply and completely the North Korean people have been deprived of basic information, to the point they've never even heard of Apollo. In contrast, they've been taught that America is their enemy forever and seeks to wipe the Workers Paradise off the Earth. We like to think North Koreans are fanatical crazies. They are not. They just don't have access to the truth and have no reason not to believe the lies their government tells them. Seeking information other than the official 'truth' can lead to internment in a re-education camp where they are tortured for years, and many die. As a result, nothing changes.
