Where else would you choose to propose marriage to your lover? I adore this city and have had many romantic visits there - in fact whenever I get the chance it is my first choice for a long weekend, time and finances willing! The love scenes and places that Freddie and Anna experience are direct lifts from my own life. Even the sad saxophone is true - a hot night in early summer with a new lover, staying in Hotel Migny Opera, (unfortunately not the luxurious apartment where Freddie lives). We were lying there, high up in a garret room and this gorgeous music drifted up through our open window just after midnight. It was a magical evening that I just did not want to end and I had to capture this same joy for Freddie and Anna.
