Too Much Information

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

In a world overshadowed by the impendence of terrorism, with pandemics threatening an equal measure of havoc, Thermo-Magnetic Imaging machines represent a seemingly perfect solution. But as privacy and health concerns grow ever more complex, this cutting edge technology delivers more than anyone had bargained for. While the forces behind the scenes fight to conceal their true agenda, the public struggles to cope with a new paradigm so invasive their innermost secrets are laid bare under its powerful lens. Rob Folsom is a civil liberties activist, a staunch defender of privacy rights. Rosa Perez, a government agent specializing in surveillance, seems an unlikely candidate for him to represent. As Rob is pulled into her world of high-tech spying, corporate intrigue, and black ops government agencies, he becomes caught in a perilous game of cat and mouse. As the target of interest switches from client to advocate, Rob has to find a way to stop them before they sabotage everything he has worked for...

the Corridor

Thermo-magnetic imaging technology (or some reasonably similar facsimile), and airport security in general, formed the basis of TMI when I started writing it down back in the summer of 2012. I had assumed it would go quickly, but as these things apparently so often do, it spiraled into a much broader story. Characters kept expanding their roles faster than I could jot them down, one plot situation lead to another and then another, and before I knew it a year had passed before I felt that TMI was complete and presentable for the reading public. This excerpt is one of the earliest segments I wrote, and gives the reader a sense of what it was like to go through the TMI scanner in a real airport security setting, using the guided tour as the backdrop for a closer inspection.

The Gold Club

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

Business is booming at the mega-conglomorate Sahara Corporation, but nowhere moreso than in the company’s exclusive Gold Club program. Sahara middle-manager and fervent clock-watcher Ted Ward is the mastermind behind the venture — unbeknownst to his employers, he has created this VIP experience right under their noses, and is using it to line his own pockets. Ted’s clients pay dearly for gold club privileges, but the rewards are extraordinary. With the mighty weight of Sahara's vast infrastructure at their disposal, Ted, computer genius and partner-in-crime Philip Caldorian, and their team of co-conspirators build an empire.

Ted and Til get to know each other

I really enjoyed writing this little segment. Ted learns that his new girlfriend has a mischievous side, and she manages to turn a bad date into a fun experience at the expense of someone who really deserves it. It's particularly satisfying to write a bit of a happy ending to that 'rude service person' experience we've all endured at one time or another.
