What Would You Do For Five Million Dollars?

Bella Chatham has a big heart and as owner of Chance Creek's animal shelter, she wants to save every creature that crosses her path. Which takes money. By entering the reality television show, Can You Beat a Billionaire, she could make enough to keep her shelter afloat for years. If she loses, she’ll have to marry the billionaire. Bella was inspired by an actual experience. I went on a walk with my husband and daughter one day and came home with two abandoned kittens. We could only keep one, so we brought the other to the animal shelter, but I couldn't sleep for days thinking of that kitten. What if no one adopted it? I finally sent my husband back to the shelter to rescue it--and he was shocked to learn he'd have to PAY to get the kitten back (to cover the cost of spaying). At the time, this was a bit of a hit to our finances, but we coughed up the money and brought the cat home. We found her a wonderful home, but my husband still talks about the injustice of having to pay to save the cat when we brought it there to begin with, LOL. And I sleep much better knowing we did indeed save the cat who chose us to save it.

A SEAL’s Chance

Remember Aunt Heloise?

I couldn't write a Heroes of Chance Creek novella without a reference to Mason's Great Aunt Heloise. Heloise is one of my favorite characters because--to put it bluntly--she's a complete whack-job. But she's a whack-job with a plan, and the amazing thing about Heloise is her plans tend to work out. We haven't seen the last of Heloise, either. She'll feature in my upcoming Turners vs. Coopers series, and she'll be as ornery and over-the-top as ever.
