Juliet, the protagaonist, gets into an argument with her wife beating husband. She is so tough and determined that she knows just what to do.. get him to beat her and then get to her true love... this way she can save herself, save her children and safe the bands reputation.
Some funnies
Some of the more comical lines of sarcasm that are throughout this book I find that (to quote one of my favorite movies) "laughter through tears is my favorite emotion" - Steel Magnolias, 1989. There is always an element of humor in my writing.I have to have some humor even if it's a character(s) that is a smart a$$ so that the drama doesn't over take things. I think that's why I love Shakespeare, COnan-Doyle, Kipling and Austin so much.... they realize that humor must be there even in a tragedy or it just doesn't work.
In the beginning
These are the first chapters of the book and where we meet Juliet..... Jane Austin, David Eddings and Tolkein are my favorite authors....while there are elements of romance adventure etc etc their biggest draw for me is that there are real relationships. I don't just mean between the romantic couples... but also between the friends, parents co-workers etc... they focus on the relationships that make their story make sense, that give strength to the protagonists.. these are important. Lily is one of these for Juliet.
