Atlantis

Science Fiction & Fantasy

What if the Shadow that destroyed Atlantis 10,000 years ago, comes back to threaten our present world? A war beyond time. An enemy beyond space. A thriller beyond your wildest dreams. Three areas on the Earth’s surface defy explanation: the Bermuda Triangle, the Devil’s Sea of Japan, and a small region of Cambodia. Inside these realms, planes have disappeared, ships have vanished, and, in Cambodia, an entire civilization has been lost leaving behind Angkor Wat. “Spell-binding! Will keep you on the edge of your seat. Call it techno-thriller, call it science fiction, call it just terrific story-telling.” Terry Brooks, #1 NY Times Bestselling author of the Shannara series and Star Wars Phantom Menace If you enjoyed LOST, you’ll love this book and be amazed at the similarities in concept (although this book was published before Lost).

Love the show LOST? You'll love Atlantis!

Reason # 5 that JJ Abrams's bookshelf for Lost is the bestselling series Atlantis! 5. The survivors in Lost encounter people who should not be there and were not part of the crash—the Others. The survivors in the book encounter people called the Others, who should not be there and were not part of the crash. Both groups of the Others seem to have a strange agenda, not yet spelled out in Lost, but both battling some other unknown force.

Another Lost/Atlantis Connection

Reason #2 and #3 on why the Atlantis Series could be seen as the hit TV Show's Bookshelf.... 2. In the second season finale it’s discovered that the island appears to be part of some strange system of planet-wide powerful electromagnetic anomalies. In the book series the gates are part of a system of planet-wide powerful electromagnetic anomalies. 3. Both feature a radio message replaying a cryptic message that in both cases have no apparent power source. The message is thirty years old in the books and sixteen years old in the series.

Eyes of the Hammer

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

A US Army Special Forces team carrying sterilized weapons and unmarked uniforms is on its way to Colombia. The mission: conduct covert, unilateral raids to destroy cocaine processing laboratories. Of course nothing is as it seems especially once the CIA gets involved. Throw in an Israeli mercenary, betrayal and double-dealing in Washington and the team soon finds itself wondering what the real mission is. “A scorcher of a novel. Mayer had me hooked from the very first page.” Stephen Coonts “Exciting and authentic! Author Mayer, a Green Beret himself, gave me a vivid look at the world of the Army’s Special Forces. His portrayal of Green Beret operations and techniques takes you deep into the world of Special Operations.” W.E.B. Griffin. “If you want action, you’ve got it.” NY Times. “A thriller that delivers in all areas—plot, suspense, authenticity and pace. A masterpiece of technology and suspense. The climax will have the reader yearning for more nails to bite. Not to be missed by fans of the genre.” Library Journal. “Sizzling, first-rate, war fiction.” Macon Beacon. “This one will leave you spell-bound.” Books News

An authentic fictional look into the military

When my business partner and I began pulling all my published work under one name we had to find a common theme. Something that would pull my thrillers and science fiction novels into one key phrase. We came up with "Factual Fiction". Everything I write is based 95% in fact. Eyes of the Hammer is in part, factual, based on my experiences in the Army and as a Green Beret. “Exciting and authentic! Author Mayer, a Green Beret himself, gave me a vivid look at the world of the Army’s Special Forces. His portrayal of Green Beret operations and techniques takes you deep into the world of Special Operations.” W.E.B. Griffin.

I, Judas The 5th Gospel

Science Fiction & Fantasy

Praise for Bob Mayer’s science thrillers: “A crackling science thriller in the vein of Crichton that mixes action with science fiction.” Kirkus. What if Judas is still alive, hidden away in the jungles of the Amazon, waiting for the Second Coming? As a massive object appears in space heading directly toward Earth, the Brotherhood heralds it as Wormwood, one of the signs the Rapture and it’s just three days away. They have been preparing to implement the Great Commission as designated by Jesus—where everyone on the planet must hear the word of God before the end in order to be saved. They will use advanced technology to send that message directly into the minds of every human on the planet. The question is: will the message kill everyone who gets it or save them?

Book Bubbles from I, Judas The 5th Gospel

Inspiration behind the idea

Part of the inspiration for this book was the classic novel by Arthur C. Clarke: Childhood’s End. I loved the twist at the end of that. But one of the tenets of my writing has always been to question “facts”. We think we know a lot more than we really know. There are a lot of things that people blindly accept that might not be true. On the other hand, I like taking things that are facts that many people don’t know. The history of the Bible is one case. Many people quote it, but they really don’t know how it came to be. In the book, Judas spends quite a bit of time explaining the Bible and certain parts of it, like Revelations.

Nightstalkers

Science Fiction & Fantasy

Staff Sergeant Winthrop Carter has just been drafted into the Nightstalkers—an elite group of soldiers that... Actually, he’s not quite sure what they do. Born from the Area 51 initiative, the Nightstalkers defy sanity and decorum and include among their ranks Moms, a Black Ops trainee too extreme for Special Forces; Doc, a scientific crackpot; Roland, the weapons enthusiast; and Mac, a contemporary MacGyver. All of them take their orders from the elusive Ms. Jones, who everyone claims is just a hologram. Those orders include tracking down and sealing tears in our reality that are releasing interdimensional beings known only as Fireflies—creatures that take control of both living and inanimate matter in order to unleash wanton destruction. Just as Carter is settling in, a rogue scientist triggers a fresh invasion of Fireflies that swarm a swanky gated community. Now it’s up to Carter and his new teammates to neutralize the threat while figuring out who’s behind the breach.

Who are Special Operations Forces and what do they

Here’s the thing: these units are ELITE. This is a word that has gotten a negative connotation in society lately, but screw that: that’s who and what they are. I still remember standing in formation at Ft. Devens with my team, among the other 14 A-Teams in the 2d Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the Battalion Sergeant Major was screaming about something or another, and he yelled: “What do you guys think you are? Special?” And we all kind of looked at each other and nodded. Hell, yeah. For an organization to be elite, first the people inside of it must be elite. Elite individuals and organizations must have excellent goal-setting, leadership, training and communications. As my book progresses I move from elite individuals to the elements of team building which make elite organizations.

Is Ms. Jones Real?

Not many members of the team ever went behind the "door" moe than once, so often times the team members and other speculate whether or not Ms. Jones is real, or simply a holographic image with a voice. Ms. Jones never appears to talk on the phone, or the radio or even herself. When people are in the office, there are no "office" sounds. No creak of the desk chair. Nothing. its weird.

Nightstalkers: Area 51 and The Holy Hand Grenade o

Area 51 has always had some 'mystery' to it. What is really there? What really happens there? Even Nevada Route 375 is often called 'Extraterrestrial Highway'. Much of what I write is based in fact, and that holds true for Nightstalkers. The fun is blending the fiction with the fact and leaving readers wondering what is fact and what is fiction. And just for fun, go to this youtube video. http://youtu.be/xOrgLj9lOwk

Teaser to my latest release: NIGHTSTALKERS

Nightstalkers are an elite group of soldiers that...take care of things that go bump in the night...which includes tracking down and sealing tears in our reality that re releasing interdimensional beings known only as Fireflies... Duty Honor Country

History

They swore oaths, both personal and professional. From the Plain at West Point, through the Mexican War, to the carnage of Shiloh. They were fighting for country, for a way of life and for family. Classmates carried more than rifles and sabers into battle. They had friendships, memories, children and wives. They had innocence lost, promises broken and glory found. Duty, Honor, Country is history told both epic and personal so we can understand what happened, but more importantly feel the heart-wrenching clash of duty, honor, country and loyalty. And realize that sometimes, the people who changed history, weren’t recorded by it. This book is big, almost twice the length of my usual books, because the story demands a large scale. Reviews for Mayer’s books: “Will leave you spellbound.” Book News “Mayer has established himself as one of today’s better military writers. A background in Special Operations gives him credibility and understanding from having been there and done that.” Airpower Journal “A treat for military fiction readers.” Publishers Weekly

Book Bubbles from Duty Honor Country

Honor VS. Loyalty

This is history told both epic and personal so we can understand intellectually what happened, but more importantly feel the heart-wrenching struggle of duty, honor, country and loyalty coming into collision. Would you rather have a loyal friend? Or an honorable friend?

Who commanded major battles of the Civil War?

Our story starts in 1840, in Benny Havens tavern, just outside post limits of the United States Military Academy. With William Tecumseh Sherman, a classmate, a plebe, and Benny Havens’ daughter coming together in a crucible of honor and loyalty. And on post, in the West Point stables, where Ulysses S. Grant and a classmate are preparing to saddle the Hell-Beast, a horse with which Grant would eventually set an academy record, and both make fateful decisions that will change the course of their lives and history. The key to this series is a simple fact I had to memorize as a plebe at West Point: Who commanded the major battles of the Civil War? —— There were 60 important battles of the War. In 55 of them, graduates commanded on both sides.

Dragon Sim-13

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

During the Tiananmen Square Demonstration a computer scientist watches his son die. Revenge doesn't save all. Mission: Dave Riley, Training simulation goes green, enter China and destroy pipeline, but their mission isn't sanctioned... 2nd book in the Green Beret Series by NY Times Best Selling author and former Green Beret Bob Mayer.

Book Bubbles from Dragon Sim-13

Based on an actual operation

Dragon Sim-13: This book was based on an actual operation I led my Special Forces A-Team on. We really did figure out how to blow up a major pipeline and keep it out of production for two weeks. And we did run into bears! I always wondered when we were alerted for our war plan and loaded onto the plane and took off, what would happen if we got our GO codeword and this was for real. In this case, someone plays with that concept to try to instigate trouble between the US and China during the Tiananmen Square riots.

Cut Out

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

What if you are the loose end? The Plot: Kill off witnesses in the Witness Protection Program and pocket their support money. Who's behind the plot killing off loose ends? The Mob? The Witness Protection Program? Or both? Book three in the Green Beret Series by NY Times Best Selling Author and former Green Beret Bob Mayer.

The Witness Protection Program

CUT OUT: I came up with this idea after watching Goodfellas one night. The next day, over lunch, my wife and I were talking about it. We wondered why the government would keep these people around if the case they were involved in was closed. And then I thought: what if they don’t keep them around?

Synbat

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

Deep in the Secret Scientific Facility, they created a genetically engineered creature, SYNBAT. The Synbats have broken out and they are programed to do one thing: TO KILL. Mission: Capture and destroy the Synbats. This is the fourth book in the Green Beret Series by NY Times Best Selling Author and former Green Beret Bob Mayer.

Book Bubbles from Synbat

Mixing science and genetics

SYNBAT: This is the book where I first started going in a bit of a science fiction direction. I’d always been fascinated with the mind and science and genetics. While The Terminator was about a machine being a soldier, I thought it’s as likely science would use genetics to develop a better soldier. The danger of having proxy fighters (like proxy assassins in the form of drones) is where do you draw the line when using them? The ending of the book is cool because those old tunnels really do exist underneath Chicago.

West Point did not tolerate betrayal.

Will Riley secure the weapons Cache and keep Sammy alive? Book five in the Green Beret Series by NY Times Bestselling Author and former Green Beret Bob Mayer.

Book Bubbles from Eternity Base

Where would the Government hide, then lose Nuclear

Eternity Base: I read a news article that said there was an international treaty banning weapons in Antarctica. Immediately, as a writer, I thought: well, that’s the first place someone would hide them. My wife had worked in the national archives, and she talked about finding all these old boxes of units histories and photos. Things no one had looked at in decades. So . . . I wondered, what if the US built a secret, last ditch base holding nuclear weapons in Antarctica and it was so secret, we actually ‘lost’ it. You might laugh, but that’s the danger with real secrets. What if the people who know about it all gradually die off and the files are buried?

This man unleashes his pandemic, Z, in Africa in the midst of a peacekeeping operation Riley is on. And, of course, it’s up to him to figure out what it is and stop it.

Chasing The Ghost

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

The seventh book in the Green Beret Series by Ny Times Bestselling Author and former Green Beret Bob Mayer. Covert operative Horace Chase has been chasing ghosts his entire life. First, his Medal-of-Honor winner father who died in Vietnam without ever meeting his son. And left him the legacy of an automatic appointment to the Military Academy at West Point which shaped the next thirty-five years of Chase's life. Then, the ghost of his mother, who died while he was at war in Afghanistan and wounded, causing him to resign his commission and return to the United States, a lost soul.

Book Bubbles from Chasing The Ghost

Meet Horace Chase

Chasing the Ghost was a book a long time in the writing. My wife and I first came up with the idea in 1990s and the partial draft was set in Nashville, TN. The protagonist was a cop-- which we knew nothing about. When we moved from TN to Boulder, CO, we changed the setting and we changed the protagonist into Horace Chase-- a key factor there was the fact that the children of winners of the Medal of Honor get an automatic appointment to any of the Military Academies, so this was Chase's fate. Connecting a militia movement with the CIA with the Russian mob came about over time as the plot developed. What I like about Chase is that he's a hero, but he's deeply flawed. You'd want him at your side in combat, but now as a wingman on a date.

Chasing The Lost

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

Chasing the lost is the 8th book in the Green Beret Series by NY Times Bestselling Author and former Green Beret Bob Mayer. This books brings Dave Riley out of retirement and introduces him to Horace Chase from Chasing the Ghost.

Book Bubbles from Chasing The Lost

Horace Chase moves to Hilton Head

Chasing the Lost developed out of a letter in the first book which Chase's mother wrote him as she was dying and he received recuperating from wounds received in Afghanistan. He's deeded a house on Hilton Head, SC. I was going to make a fictitious place, but then decided to use the real island since we lived there five years. The house he get, we lived in, although I've heard the land has sold and it's now torn down. I think the low country is a great place and it has its own atmosphere. Chase meets Dave Riley when he needs help and they form a team of misfits that will be the beggining of a series of The Green Berets: Chasing . . . something.
