Science Fiction & Fantasy

There is a world not everyone can see: a world of fairies and witches, shapeshifters and vampires. A world that co-exists with everyday life. When a young sibyl gets a first glimpse of that world, reality seems to crumble and everything becomes one big question mark. The world of the supernatural proves to be deeper and wider than the young sibyl could ever have guessed as the local sybil community is threatened and the young sybil is drawn into a dangerous game between powers too old to be understood. It is more important now than ever to have friends at your back, but in a world this secret, enemies and friends look just alike.

Supernatural Friendship

One of my favorite things about writing anything is when a secondary character really comes to life. As I was writing School of Sight, the protagonist's roommate Yael became one of those characters. People who were reading as I wrote kept saying, "What about Yael? We want more of Yael." I don't know that Yael will ever get her own book, but she definitely has her own personality.

Sparkle-free vampires

One of the biggest challenges in writing School of Sight was how to deal with these mythical creatures that had centuries of tradition surrounding how they were presented in fiction. Working with vampires meant not only acknowledging the folk lore of vampires but also their recent fictional treatment. I loved being able to dig into the myth and really make it my own.
