Intoxicated

Romance

Lauren Jefferies thought she had everything she ever wanted. When a job promotion forces her to move two hours away from her longterm boyfriend, Eric, his true colors come out. More often than not, her roommate's brother, Matthew, is happy to pick up the pieces, leaving her to question what - and who - she really desires.

More than friends?

This scene was one of my favorites to write in the entire book. I had it scripted out long before I truly started writing; it was just waiting for the perfect place to turn up. There is something so undeniably intimate about this scene; the sexual tension is palpable. At this point, the attraction between Lauren and Matthew has been a slow burn. Lauren's convinced herself that she's imagining things and she only has eyes for Eric. Despite this, her thoughts keep drifting back to her roommate's brother. Are his comments and actions a result of his charisma or do they hold more meaning? Eric has yet again upset Lauren, and his actions have unknowingly allowed Matthew the opportunity to step in and pick up the pieces. This is truly the beginning of the triangle.

Shattered

Romance

Shattered is the second book in the Intoxicated series. This book picks right up where the first left off. Lauren's stuck in the middle of a love triangle that's come to a surprising head. Will she accept Eric's proposal and settle for all that he offers, or will she follow her heart and try to convince Matthew that whatever they have can actually work?

The Recurring Dream

I have always enjoyed writing dream sequences for Lauren since she seems to be an expert at hiding the truth from herself. In Book One, her dream expressed her true feelings for Matthew. In Book Two, her dream symbolizes her inner turmoil over choosing between the only men she's ever loved. It also gives us insight into Matthew's true feelings for her. At this point, readers already know that Matthew thinks she's chosen Eric and what a difficult thing that is for him to swallow. However, Lauren's not yet privy to that information. Or maybe she is, but just doesn't realize it.
